Merry Christmas from Teacupfaery Central

I'm sorry I've been neglecting my blog, uni has been conspiring to eat up all my free time, so I mostly lurk on twitter nowadays. I am still knitting my socks off. And eating copious festive tastiness of late.

Myself and a few of my girls are off to Ireland tomorrow for the holidays, back January 3rd. We wish all our friends a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a FANTASTIC New Year.

My shop will remain open but please be aware that no shipping will take place between now and January 3rd.

See you all in 2010!

Progress is being made

I am starting to feel a lot better about university. My honors project is well underway and *almost* under control. My first laid fly-babies are growing big and I should be hearing the buzzz-buzzz of brand new adults in two weeks or so. I am quite proud :) Today I will be popping the next round into the incubator. Exciting times..

My Blythe Baby's Breath arrived yesterday. I decided to buy her now and leave my KB savings for the moment. The prices of the sidepart redheads are getting ridiculous now. I have a theory that when it is the right time to chase her, I will know, and it is not that time yet.

I am possibly toying with the idea of selling a couple more takaras, with the aim of building a core of less dolls but more special dolls. I'm not sure. I have 14 now. I am stll needing a redhaired kenner, a blonde RBL (MaMa I think), and possibly Peppermint, I really like her a lot. I would love PD London but she is too expesive. Witing for a cheaper FBL to reroot in hot pink.

I am currently working on a batch of Blythe cardigans for the shop. I will post their photos on my flickr as they are completed. Please email or fm me if you'd like to be added to my mailing list.

Arg! Decisions!

In a bit of a pickle at the minute. I am still buried under a pile of paperwork trying to finalise my research project. I am alternating between working on my plan outline (due in next Friday at the latest) and making dolly clothes. I much prefer the later :)

On that note, there will be an update of some sort on etsy this Sunday nighttime GMT, probably about 8pm. There will definately be tights in all the colours avalible, and hopefully a sprinkling of dresses and maybe more. I'm thinking hats and scarfs at the moment. Brrrr!

I recived a fantastic bundle of new fabrics yesterday, looking forward to trying them out. There are lots more in the post too!

Which brings me to a decision I'm currently having trouble with. Yes, its dolly related. And I've been driving Dan mad with it. I want a redhaired sidepart Kenner Bythe, but... I still want Baby's Breath. Do I buy her now, thus blowing my KB savings? Or keep going for my redhead, in the knowledge that when I get back to BaBr she will most certainly be much more expensive. I just don't know what to do!

I actually had this exact situation with Doronjo when she came out, and that's why I bought my first KB, for a fair bit less that Doronjo.

Thank you for a fantastic day!

It was my birthday today, and Dan and I took the Blythe girls to Birmingham for a meet up with lots of fantastic dolly friends. Had a really brilliant day. Posting a couple of my favourite shots here, lots more being added to my flickr. I'm having my birthday drink of rum and dr. pepper now while sorting them out.

The lovely Persephone, my Veronica Lace. A birthday present from my Dad.

Jellybean, in her perfect outfit. A BigSmudge helmet and fantastic Eurotrash dress which Dan bought for me, all by himself. Loves :)

Beatrix Von Battenburg, in her favorite Eurotrash number.

We had Wagamama dinner (yummy chicken katsu) and fancy cheesecake (for me, and banoffi pie for Dan) in Selfridges for tea. And we bought some new shoes, boots, stockings and glasses from Blythe Desires. Lovely day all round.

News from the frog pond

Hamish is a small tartan frog thing that I found in a charity shop years and years ago. On a recent trip to Cheltenham, I found another! Again, in a charity shop jumble basket. This time a black and floral chintz frog, still with her Liberty of London tags. I brought her home and introduced her to Hamish, and now they are a very happy couple.

Tree Frogs

Flora and Hamish

Hamish is particularly delighted about my honors project. I will soon start work researching the factors affecting the ability of a certain fly species to colonise buried remains. For this, I will be in charge of my very own fly culture. Hamish may help me in my work, but he must not eat my flies!

September... birthday season, and the busiest month of my year

Hello! Firstly, I appologise for being a bit behind on my etsy updates. I have LOTS of plans, LOTS of yarn and fabric, but no time at all right now. I am working on that batch of cake cardigans today though, and will at them to my shop tonight. There will be at least four, and hopefully a few more bits in drips and drops over the end of this week. Photos will be published on my flickr when they are ready :)

It was my lovely man fellow's birthday on Monday, he's working full time at the moment, so celebrations are needed this weekend. Its also Moki's birhday on the 19th (I've not forgotten) and mine on the 26th, teehee. I was naughty and bought myself a new dolly yesterday, a lime green haired Ms. Retro Mama Blythe, customised by the lovely Lisa_Ann*. She's on her way now, I can't wait to meet her. I am secretly assembling a Blythe rainbow :)

I have three very nice new flatmates since the weekend, they seem to be fitting in nicely, and one of them is actually from my home town in Ireland. Squeee!

Right now I am getting very excited about the Birmingham Blythe meet, it looks set to be a fantastic day with lots of lovely people and dollies. New girl has left me with a dilemma though... I no longer know who to bring. My Blythe case only holds four and four is really all I can manage. But I am definately bringing my Goldie (Katie-Jane) and KB Beatrix.

Right, back to works. Coffee a-gogo :)

Holiday Update...

I am back at work in the Atlantic Point emporium now, and in university again from Monday, so I've decided to release my Winter Holiday ideas now, before I run out of time. I didn't want to do anything overly 'Christmassy', no red-green domination. Instead I wanted to create a snow white, ice blue and candy coloured collection. 'Nutcracker... Land of Sweets' comes to min. So we have Candy Fluff cardigans and helmets for 'cakes and blythes, winter animal printed cotton party dresses, lots of pompom trim, and very special textured cotton bloomers shot through with silver.

Candy Fluff Blythe Cadigan with Ruffle Bloomers

Flump Cardigan and Flump Helmet for Strawberry Shortcake

Snowfall dress for Blythe, with very special beading detail

Sugar Almond Dress for Blythe

I may add a few more 'cake cardigans over the weekend, most likely Sunday night as I'm working all weekend. Photos will be added to my flickr whenever anything is ready to go. Enjoy :)

Saturday 5 September 2009

Just a leetle update...

Three new Strawberry Shortcake dresses hitting my etsy store at 6pm GMT.

This will be the last update for a while, I'm working on some Blythe dresses and extra special bloomers for next week.

Friday 4 September 2009

I'm back!

First and foremost, I have just done a long awaited etsy update....

Candy Fluff Helmet

Candy Helmet and Cardigan

Damson Dress and Helmet set

Flora Dress and Helmet set

I had a wonderful weekend at Dan's parents. I still have about 270 photos to sort out. Alton Towers was definately worth the trip, amazing day there on Tuesday. Though I did slip on some mossy steps in the gardens area and hurt my anke. Still limping today :(

I am hoping to have a few more 'cake bits and bobs ready tomorrow night. I apologise for the awful photos on some of my listings this week, my computer is being temporamental and attempting to sabottage me. I will replace them as soon as I can.

Friday 28 August 2009

Holiday!

Just a quick post today to let everyone know that teaupfaery, dan, and probably a few dollies, are off to stay at dan's parents for a few days. I'll be bringing my needles and a few lush new yarns (and plenty of old favourite yarns) so there'll be more 'cake clothing and other goodies when I get back.

Going to Alton Towers too I think. I've never been, and am thus quite excited. Probably won't be online till Wednesday but I'll bring home lots of pictures.

Thursday 27 August 2009

Bloomer Sale!

Sale now on on all my summery bloomers. Check out my 'sale' section.

A day for frogs and snails

Its another rainy day here in Liverpool, lots of sunshine and showers. I took Katie Jane and Lavender Sky out with me today. They wore their bear hats and played in the Bluecoat garden between the showers. We weren't alone though. Katie spotted a pair of amourous snails on a wall. I think they look quite sweet.

I found a couple of lovely wools in John Lewis (while rain dodging). A pale blue 4ply and a soft cream 3ply. I want to make my girls some new cardigans to go with those dresses I'm working on. I'm currently trying to work out a sweater dress design for the 'cakes.

Tuesday 18 August 2009

Productive day!

I've been working on some dresses for the Blythe clan today. I love the octopus and seahorse fabric more than is reasonable. I need to hunt it down in hot pink. The kitchen bear fabric is great too, not entirely sure what the dress will turn out like yet.

I posted my This Is Blythe quilt panel off to Gina today. Its evolved a lot ince I started work on it. My sewings tend to do that. The very last of the Alice in Wonderland fabric is in this panel too. I like knowing I've used every scrap to the best of its ability.

I have lots of exciting dolly post on its way. Most excitingly, my Veronica Lace Blythe, a birthday gift from my Dad (he might not know about her yet, but he did buy her for me, he doesn't understand internets or dolls). I can't wait to meet her. I'm also awaiting some lovely clothes and a parcel of exciting fabrics. Squeee! And, ahem, four more Strawberry Shortcakes. And a Pie Man for Dan. The post box won't know whats hit it :)

Monday 17 August 2009

Mallory, Fluggs, and 'cake dresses

A few new Strawberry Shortcake sets in my shop this week. This will be the last 'cake lot for a while as I want to work on sewing for Blythe, including a few projects for my own girls. There are some exciting party dresses in my sewing pile tonight.

Elder Flower Dress and Helmet set.

While on the Blythe front ...

Bea wants to thank Fliss http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5111134 for her new Fluggs. These boots are beautiful and, very importantly, easy to pull up on Bea's broken knee.

Mallory, my only mohair Blythe, has returned from my dolly lab. Her hairs been washed, conditioned, brushed (!), and thatched. It looks great now :) Her eyelids have been fixed (thanks Dan!), a few chips rearranged, and new lashes.

Wednesday 12 August 2009

My latest Strawberry Shortcake outfit commission

Butterfly print cotton skirt with knit bodice in red and pink blend with silver glitter and pompom trim to skirt. Decorated with seed beads. Matching helmet decorated with vintage flower bead, seed beads and sequin.

I am working on a couple more commission projects this week. When they are done I really need to finish Nora's reroot. And I have a secret project planned for my mum. Ssssh!

We went to see our friend Andy's band, Mechanical Spaniard, performing at a 'battle of the bands' in the Supper Club on Tuesday night. A delightful time was had by all. I forgot to charge my camera though, so very few photos to be had. Edele, my chocolate sweet scents doll, came along. She likes supporting local bands. And Guinness, we all like Guinness.

Tuesday 11 August 2009

Busy busy busy...

I'm having a closet cleanout at the moment here...

I've only been home from Ireland a day so I'm busy tidying and clearing out old dolly clothings to make room for all the girls. Because they are all here now. Yay!

I will be selling my Pullip Panda very soon, she is in good condition, with all her stock except glasses ands one mitten liner. She'll come with her collection of vintage and new Sindy dresses too. And her converse trainers. Just need to take some photos. Feel free to contact me if interested though.

New Strawberry Shortcake Dress Sets!

Neopolitan Dress and Helmet Set

Seafoam Dress and Helmet Set

These will be avalible from my etsy shop sometime tomorrow. Depending on internet avalibility. I also have a few Blythe versions avalible, so it will be possible to have matching sets for your Blythe and 'cake girls.

I'm still in Ireland until Sunday August 9th. I will be online a lot more when I get home, with lots more sewing and knitting plans.

Sunday 2 August 2009

Reductions in the Strawberry Shortcake Department!

I have lowered the prices of all the Strawberry Shortcake outfit sets in my etsy shop. Its hard to get the right balance when pricing things, but I think these should be a bit better. Reduced sets are:

Sunny Birds Romper and Hat Set
Honey Birds Dress and Hat Set
Cupcake Romper and Hat Set
Buttercream Dress and Fancy Hat Set

All of my current helmets are up now. New dress sets for Blythe and SSC coming in a week or so.

Wednesday 29 July 2009

News!

I have managed to list most of the new hats on etsy. Three more to be added, but the internet is too painfully slow to continue right now. Those octopods are up though. Huzzah!

I am rather excited about the Raspberry Berrykin SSC hat :)

Sunday 26 July 2009

New Blythe hats in progress

There will be an etsy update in a few days, whenever I can get the internet here to co-operate, it is being a major pain in the bottom at the moment. Anywho... there will be some new hats, including sea snail inspired pearly silk tweed cabled hats, and fluffy mohair helmets. I'm also listing a couple of knitted octopods that have been floating around for a while. They deserve to see a bit more of the world.

Saturday 25 July 2009

Oh noes!

Flickr appears to be down :(

It is my Mum's birthday today. Dan and I bought her a rubyanndesigns locket from etsy. I think it went down well. She and Dad are in the process of going out for dinner. I cooked pasta for the kids here.

Tonight I will be knitting Blythe helmets. I'm slowly working my way through my epic stash, the chunkier yarns I never brought to Liverpool. I've been sharing my time between Ireland and Liverpool this Summer. I've lost all concept of pounds and euros at this point. I'll just stick to dollars, I understand dollars (or rather, how many hats I can trade them for...).

I want to start work on my quilt panel for the TIB quilt but I need my flickr to carry out that plan.

Tuesday 21 July 2009

Todays sewings...

Pink Monster Bloomers on etsy. Hurray!

Monday 20 July 2009

It was THE SCREENING tonite...

... for Andy's film. It was really good. As were most of the films there. And free wine and snacks aplenty (none of which left in anyone's handbag, ahem). Dan and I dressed up all smartish and a wonderful time was had by all.

Andy is graduating tomorrow, we at teacupfaery central wish him an awesome day.

I've been sewing more blythe bloomers tonite. But I've run out of white thread. Oh no! They should be ready tomorrow night though.

I'm intending to get an early (for me) night tonight so I can read more of Clive Barker's 'Damnation Game'. I still haven't finished the blooming SSC reroot, though I have fixed Mallory's eyemech and hair issues, with loads of help from Dan. Her hair is now brushable and lovely. She's currently balanced in a pint glass as her little licca legs don't fit on a stand.

Night night interwebs.

Today's Sewing Updates

Robot Love Bloomers. These are very transient things. They've sold already. Eeep!

Moonflower Blythe Hat

Sunny Birds SSC Rompers and Hat

Cupcake Rompers and Hat

Buttercream Dress and Hat set

A reasonably productive few days, especially if you take into account my new "Lost" addiction. Dan bought the first season box set in a charity shop in Galway. I grumbled at first, but now I'm hooked. Dear God, I love this show. I really do. Especially Sawyer. And Locke....

Right, off to watch more "Lost" and sew more bloomers.

Tuesday 14 July 2009

Rompers and Filmstars

Its been a verrrry busy week here at teacupfaery central. I have spent most of it working out how to make tiny rompers for the Strawberry Shortcake dolls. A few new updates added to my etsy shop. More rompers to come very soon, as soon as I get around to finishing them.

I am very excited to be featured in the "This is Blythe" Fan Spotlight this month. Read my interview here...

I have also been lucky enough to have my photo of a skull in Liverpool World Museum published in the new Schmap! Liverpool guiode. Squeee!

On Sunday I got to be an extra in a short film written by my friend Andy. "Its a Pleasure" will be screening in Liverpool on July 20th (I think). I can't wait to see it. Spent the whole day in the Brian Epstein house in Anfield in a corset in the baking heat. Quite exhausting this film making malarky. It took SEVEN make-up removing pads to get the foundation off my face. Anyway... pictures of that incident to be found here...

It truely has been a hectic week. I need to fill in my student loan forms now. Then more romper sewings.

Thursday 9 July 2009

Etsy Updates!

Handknit helmets just added. Two for Strawberry Shortcake and one for Blythe.

I have lots more projects planned for the next few days. Just needing to catch up after my trip. Still needing to bombard flickr with my adventure snaps.
